Time’s Table

If I could re-live yesterday, I might change it a little bit. And if I could have a glimpse of tomorrow, I might redesign it. But since yesterday is the no more, and tomorrow is the not yet, the only possibility that seems available is to live right now, in the present. Even though this idea is somewhat understood, it is still very difficult to live in the moment because it is against the grain or nature of what everybody has been taught. If a person has a very special experience, they will sooner try to keep repeating that one lovely experience instead of creating new beautiful experiences. Similarly, when people have undesirable events happen in their lives, they can spend the rest of their lives attempting to prevent them from re-occurring. In other words, the emphasis is more on what has happened before, and what one doesn’t want to happen again, rather than living in the present. And there wouldn’t be a problem with this, except that neither yesterday or tomorrow exists. There is absolutely no possibility to visit either of these places. Life is the spontaneous. So if you are alive, you must be in the present, and behaving as such too. Because everything that has already been done, has already been done, and for that reason will not amount to very much simply being repeated. Life is most beautiful when it is new and eventful. dwp

Distant Peace

The reason why being at peace feels distant is because of the idea that it can be attained by thinking. Peace is for the taking, like any delicacy, but it cannot be enjoyed as long as the mind is present. Mind is the hindrance. The more you are identified with your mind, the less peace you will have, because they oppose each other. You must either be for peace, or for chaos. There is no possibility to be for both, much like you cannot be at the mountaintop and in the valley  simultaneously. A choice has to be made. People have been made to believe that their minds are very important; that a person cannot live without it. The purpose of mind identification is to addict people to darkness, and struggle. Peace happens by allowing the mind to rest, by disassociating with it, as you silence the noise inside, to re-discover your true inner beauty. Peace and mind are not together, which is why you cannot have peace of mind. You can only have peace from mind. Peace is only possible if you are free from your mind. Contentment comes as a result of becoming free from the mind’s control over you. dwp

The Problem With Solutions

The self-help industry is swamped with solutions, much of which does not succeed in what it set’s out to achieve, because in order to have an effective result, understanding is needed. When something is understood, there is a deep realization. And that realization is followed by action. Solutions are only short cuts. They sound good in the moment but they do not produce results, because they are not substantive. Solutions taste good. They feel nice much like any drug, but to truly grow and develop oneself, walking the walk is the way, or as James Brown put it: doing the do. dwp

The Crutch of Coaching

I met a woman who was a Life Coach and it made me wonder what exactly she did; I mean, how to be coached about life? It’s like trying to teach a fish how to swim. Some things just have to be learned on one’s own; there is no possibility to take a short cut. An athlete can be coached, or an employee, but how to coach somebody on  living? Life is a journey, it is not an occupation. Mistakes have to be made. The whole concept of life coaching presupposes that a coach knows better how to live, than the person being coached…which is idiotic, ridiculous, and absurd. The only way to taste life is to dine with it . dwp
